About the project

Zikaron is a digital platform for preserving the memory of burial sites. We started as a local initiative to digitize a single cemetery. In three months, a team of 10 volunteers digitizes 5–6 thousand burials — with photos, GPS coordinates, multilingual records, and historical data. All of this is available through Telegram bots and a web interface for relatives, researchers, and cemetery caretakers.

Zikaron is not an archive. It is an operational platform: monitoring the condition of monuments, coordinating restoration and cleaning, ordering ritual services, and sending notifications about religious dates. A practical working tool for those who take responsibility for places of memory.

Our mission

Somewhere near you there is a cemetery. Maybe overgrown. Maybe forgotten. And there are people and organizations — volunteers, community activists, local foundations and NGOs — who return there again and again, because someone has to. Our mission is to give them the tool they were missing: so that everything does not rest only on enthusiasm, so that the work of a foundation is visible and measurable, so that young people can get involved, and so that knowledge is not lost when generations change.

We work with those who are already on the ground: we support communities that care for cemeteries, help foundations build a transparent and manageable process, and give organizations a concrete answer to the question “what’s next?” — after the territory has been identified, fenced, and received official status. Zikaron is the next step: from one‑off campaigns to systematic, long‑term work.

If you are a volunteer, community leader, or represent an organization that works to preserve Jewish heritage — write to us. Let’s build this work together.
